One of the primary reasons for querying case details via the API is to determine the verification results of the case, this document unpacks the different concepts and statuses around the case and verifications.
Case Status
Every case has a status, typically in one of three states, IN_PROGRESS, READY_FOR_REVIEW or COMPLETED. The case status is not reflective of any verification status but indicates whether work on the case has been completed.
Verification Report
Individuals and Entities on a Case all expose a field latestVerificationReport, this field exposes the results of the verification checks run by the First AML platform.
Verification Check Status
The fields individualVerificationChecksStatus and verificationCheckStatus on Individuals and Entities respectively represents the decisions made by Compliance staff members using the First AML platform and can override the Verification Report.
Example
An example bringing this all together, an individual may have recently moved address such that the Address check on the Verification is a FAIL, a Proof of Address was collected from the individual which satisfied the Compliance staff member and the Check Status for Address was set to PASS.
